Your 70+ roadtrip with a Singaporean grandma*
*I’m not really Singaporean or a grandma. It’s just a cultural meme.
In 2023, a vice president of the game gave an interview to a games website to explain upcoming limits on remote raids. To describe the typical player, they said the median player is probably someone like “a Singaporean grandma who walks with her senior group” for 30 to 60 minutes every morning as part of her exercise and social routine. According to them, she mostly catches with her friends and raids very rarely, or not at all.
It was meant as a picture of the average player, not as a statistic. Many players were unhappy with the changes, and the comment spread quickly as a joke. Players started calling themselves Singaporean grandmas, and the phrase kept showing up in comments, posts and fan accounts.
This site borrows that joke, as its slogan says. It is meant affectionately, with no offense to anyone.
